The Company

Our client provides industry-leading fibre optic products and services across the globe. Founded in 1984 with a single fibre optic cable, they now manufacture over two thousand products, employ over 5,000 associates, and consistently generate annual sales in excess of a billion dollars in revenue.  Employing over 140 staff in Oceana, they have offices in each major capital city and operate two optical fibre manufacturing facilities.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will incorporate various HR functions to achieve the company’s strategic objectives and goals. This is an operational role with a strong partnering with people managers across the organisation, playing a key role in people management capabilities and employee engagement outcomes, whilst on an upward growth trajectory.

The Role

Oversee recruitment to meet business staffing needs following company guidelines.

Talent development and building of organisational capability, working closely with the CEO and partnering with the executive management team to administer and oversee training programs.

Provide framework and guidance on handling coaching, counselling and grievance management.

Assist managers in the effective management of their staff (performance issues, discipline, counselling)

Prepare and assist managers with staff termination processes.

Support managers with redundancies and staff re-organization

Develop and manage employee relations initiatives, and implement and manage reward and recognition programs.

Oversee the annual service recognition program and continually measure its effectiveness.

Manage the salary/award review process.

Organise/coordinate staff functions (Christmas function, staff farewells), and staff travel.

Develop and maintain a stable working environment following the guidelines outlined in the Fair Work Australia Act, National Employment Standards and relevant award or agreement

Manage the workers' compensation process.

Ensure the appropriate OH&S training is completed in line with legal compliance.

Prepare monthly human resources reports.

Design documents and implement new HR procedures and policies including agreements as needed.

The Requirements

•10+years in a HR Generalist role partnering with executive management ideally in a manufacturing environment.
•Tertiary HR Qualifications.
•You have leadership ability and skills and you enjoy partnering with executive management teams.
•You can work autonomously or as part of a team.
•You have the ability to manage, coach, mentor and engage staff.
•Knowledge of the latest HR practices and legislation.
•Ability to solve problems and manage conflict.
•Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
